Botox and Xeomin

BOTOX® and XEOMIN® are two injectable treatments that are commonly used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, promoting smoother, younger looking skin. Years of repetitive muscle motions, such as frowning and smiling, cause wrinkles and lines to appear. These movements contribute to wrinkles because when your muscles contract, they cause the overlying skin to pull into folds. Both BOTOX® and XEOMIN® are treatments that are used to address facial wrinkles and creases that occur as a result of repeated expressions.

Botulinum toxin type A is present in both products. This neurotoxin relaxes targeted muscles at the injection site by inhibiting neuromuscular impulses. The fundamental distinction between XEOMIN® and BOTOX® is that XEOMIN® contains a "naked" form of botulinum toxin, whereas BOTOX® does not. This purified structure may aid in the prevention of antibody resistance, which has been observed with injections given over time.

The procedure only takes a few minutes and involves injections in specific areas of the face. With either product, there is no downtime. You can return to work and the rest of your day soon after your series of injections.

Ask the nurse at your consultation if you have any questions.
